Yeah I'm a little off the beaten track when it comes to my gig here at old Hugh Boyd. This year I'm teaching 3 Blocks of African drumming, so I have a lot of non-musicians in those classes. Also for the very first time I'm teaching an On-Line music comp 11 class. Besides that it's grade 8 band, 9-12 concert and 9-12 Jazz band. We are a pretty small 8-12 school with 790 students. We also run two blocks of guitar that I do not teach. I'll be looking for material that may be of help in writing curriculum for the Music comp course, which is a real experiment. Thanks for all you are doing to support us. -garth
Hi Russ. That's an appropriate comment, and just right for the camp--kids go to camp for enrichment and progress, and that fits the piece's theme. These opportunities are such good experiences! I have a sightreading of the piece by the University of Mount Union Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mr. Jonathan Willis, and the Finale file mp3 playback file. I'll email you both separately. Thanks, Russ.
On the MS BAND DIRECTOR home page, the column of links on the right side of the screen, 3rd item down shows YOUNG BAND SCORE ANALYSIS with a link to REPERTOIRE PROJECT. This link does not work. I am the creator of that website. It used to be hosted at Univ of Texas - San Antonio but as I no longer work there, they have taken down the site. The new, working link is found at http://www.bandroom.com/BcP/TeachingResources.htm I would appreciate the link being updated as I feel there is much information available/usable on the site. Thanks! Hi Russ - Unfortunately, I'll miss your performance of "Ghost Walk' in Kissimee - I'm leaving for Guatemala tomorrow. Good luck - please let me know how it goes. If you record it; I'd love to get a copy. Cheers! Chris
Hi Russ - Thanks for recommending me to the MSBandDirector group. A recent email blast reminded me that I hadn't taken advantage of it very much, so I will try to get my profile, etc up to speed in the next few weeks. You've started a cool thing, and I appreciate the opportunity to be in touch with the members! Chris
Thanks Russ for putting an ear to "Maroon Bells March". My middle school kids played it this fall and it went very well. I recently posted the audio for two new publications. What a great resource.
All the best,
Thanks for the welcome and information. When I found this site I immediately applied to join. I'll take a little time to see how the process works. Once I feel I understand the procedures, I hope to be an active member. Musically, Pamela Rezach
Thanks so much for performing my "Reflections" in Germany. Where did you perform? Would love to have the info to post on my website and hope a video turns up. And glad you sailed away on that Eb!
I am So enjoying listening to you perform your "I Am Trusting You".
Sorry to be remiss in returning your email, and thank you for getting my "Reflections"! Which version did you Choose? Clarinet and piano? Saxophone and piano? Violin and piano? Anything and piano:-)!
I'm listening to your beautiful Stanford Sonata! Really wonderful.
I plan to spend some more time on MSBand and would love your input.
I am glad I finally joined! I had no idea you interned here at Bolles. That's awesome! Richard Anderson is still here. He is the principal now. Our program has really come a long way in the past few years. Check out our web site Bollesbands.org.
