Did you know that you can tour the inside of the White House, Congress, or the Senate during your Washington DC Trip? Even with the high security measures, there is still a way to do it!

Here's how- Exactly six months in advance of your trip, send a letter to your congressman asking for the tour. This letter will need to be on school letterhead and cannot be sent until six months in advance of your trip. We recommend that you do not wait until the last minute though! Be sure to detail to your congressman what an educational experience you feel it would be for your students to take this tour. Be sure to include the days and times that you would be available to tour. Be flexible! The more flexible you are with your time schedule, the more likely they will be able to get you in. Also make sure you tell them how many people are in your group. It would not work out well if they are expecting 20 and your group is 100!

Make sure you make a follow up call to your congressman's office about a week after you send the letter. They receive lots of mail and you want to make sure that your letter did not get lost.

It's not guaranteed that you will be able to take a tour, but if you follow those helpful steps, there's a good chance you will!

Hope this helps!!
