I'm very curious to know why many Band Directors do not choose to travel with a travel company and would rather book everything on their own? Is it because they feel as though they do not have control over the trip? Is it simply a cost factor? Or is it something else?

I've found this subject to be very black and white. Either they do, or they don't. Traveling with a travel company makes the process so much easier on the Band Director. For example if the group increases in size by three people, the Band Director who booked the trip on his own would have to take the time out to call the hotel, the theme park (s), the performance venue(s), the restaurant(s)... When traveling with a travel company, it's just one call! And the travel company takes care of the rest.

As for the cost factor... if the right company is found, the cost is typically not much more, if at all, then the cost of the trip if doing it on their own. And the value in the services you receive is well worth it!

I'd appreciate any feedback on this question?!?!
