About Me

Hello,
I am lucky and fortunate enough to the be the Director of Bands at Folly Quarter Middle School in Ellicott City, Maryland, serving grades 6 through 8. We have two large concert bands (Symphonic Band and Concert Band), two large jazz ensembles (Blue Jazz Band and Gold Jazz Band), a jazz combo and a regularly meeting trombone choir. I also the Music Technology and Middle School Band Representative to the Howard County Music Leadership Team. Outside of school, I play tuba in the Lyric Brass Quintet, tuba/bass trombone in the Soulful Symphony and American Studio Orchestra, and am the Director of Music at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where I direct the Chancel Choir. I live in Westminster, MD, with my wife Laura, son Ben, and daughter Sophie.
Thanks for reading!
Andy

Andy,
If you haven’t guessed it by now, Ed and I went to Towson together. We also were both in the Epcot Center / Disney All-American College Marching Band in 1982.

Ed plays horn. Don’t hold that against him. :)

Andy,

Welcome to msbanddirector.com. Dave says you are the low brass man! Would love to hear your input on beginning mouthpeices, baritone vs. euphonium and anything that we not low brass folks might need to know to help our students be successful.

Looking forward to the discussion...again, welcome.
