PAPER CUT performed at the 2011 Midwest Clinic

Hello friends, I'm really pleased to announce that my 2010 BandQuest commission Paper Cut (for wind band, prerecorded audio track and... printer paper!) will be performed at this year's Midwest Clinic by The Vandercook College of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Charles Menghini. The concert will be at McCormick Place West on Friday December 16, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., and I'll be there. It would be wonderful to meet more of my colleagues, so even if you can't make the concert, stop by the American Composers Forum BandQuest booth! If you're curious to see a couple of very creative videos of the piece, click on this Paper Cut resource page!Be well,AlexSee More

Hi Brian, Thanks for your kind words about my work-- and back at ya! I listened to recordings of several of your pieces on the FJH website, and you absolutely walk the talk: you offer students real inspiration and beauty with your music! Bravo!

I'll be at Midwest, and when I'm not wandering around in a happy daze, I'll be at the American Composers Forum booth #1000 (in the corner by one of the entrances; where the publishers are). Stop by and say hi!

It was great meeting you as well. I've spent some time on your website and am absolutely blown away by your music. It's nice to hear such a fresh sounding voice. I haven't listened to the actual CD you gave me yet, but have enjoyed the contrabass flute work and your writing for trumpet (I'm a trumpet player as well, but don't play professionally anymore due to my composing and conducting). Also, "Bioplasm" is fantastic. It's nice to hear you write something that sounds like it really belongs in that idiom, as opposed to an orchestration of something that sounds like it was written for something completely different. I'm sure you understand! Excellent writing!

Hi Russ,

My scores can be purchased directly through my website at http://www.activistmusic.com or through a number of distributors, including J.W. Pepper. Thanks for asking!

If members wish to purchase your compositions, do they click on the link above or do they visit another site?
