Does anyone else use practice sheets? I do and the kids hate them and I don't enjoy constantly reinforcing them. Any ideas/tips are much welcomed!

With Smartmusic there is no longer a need for practice sheets... everything, down to the minutes, is kept track of for you. Awesome time saver.
I'm going to try to push smartmusic on a trial basis this year.  I really like to program and the improvements that have been made over the years.  My main concern is the cost to families.  Yes $36 does not seem like much but one has to consider cost of computer upgrades at home and for  some families that is not attainable.  I have been asking to get a working computer in my practice room for the past 3 years to run smartmusic and it isn't happening unfortunately... I'll let you know how it goes.
Great!  Again, we have found that the all or nothing at all approach works best and have built it into their "Fair Share" commitment.  Works great.  As for smartmusic, it is frought with difficulties, so plan on spending some time with it.  Having the gradebook is the most important thing.
Allison,
Have you tried only using practice sheets for those students not making a certain level?
Students making a certain grade on a certain assignment, no longer need to submit. They have
earned their way out of this level. (Behavior modification) Could be weekly, monthly, quarterly or by semester.
This might lighten the load of accountability just a bit.
