For music educators - By music educators
We have an 8th grade jazz ensemble, and they are doing a great job at playing. I'm teaching lots of jazz, rock, latin etc techniques. It's going really well. However, I feel like they are still not getting as much as they could considering they are only getting the word from me.
Can you think of any good (I know there are plenty out there) jazz education dvd's for 8th graders? You know they are at that point where the little kid motivation videos are "dumb" for them, but I don't know if showing them the Buddy Rich rehearsal tapes would be appropriate either. :)
Also, would you recommend more of watching live performances, or more educational/documentary dvds?
I did find a website www.ejazzlines.com which has a ton...but you can't narrow the search. . .
