Hi,

I have a very large band, 95 students.  I have programmed Holsinger's On A Hymnsong for the spring concert.  As we are rehearsing, it just seems loud.  I don't want the students to play so softly they lose their support.  So many students are playing musically, but some are still struggling.  Do any of you have thoughts or ideas on having a select band play the piece.  If I were to do that, any ideas about the ideal band size for the piece?  I am thinking in the range of 40.
