For music educators - By music educators
I've had the opportunity to ask a few people for feedback regarding why Directors would book trips on their own rather than go through a tour operator. It seems the general answer has been... MONEY! People are getting caught up with some tour operators that are charging $150 per student or more to do their trip! I sure hope they got something REALLY super special out of it!
Just so you know.. not all tour companies are the same. I've been in the industry for over 15 years... I have seen some companies charge outrageous prices. But if you connect with the right one, you can get top notch service and pay about the same (in some cases less) as if you were doing it on your own. Tour operators get discounts that groups cannot get direct. So if you deal with an honest company, the money they make will be the difference between the discount they get, and the discount you get direct. Just make sure you find one that still offers great service so you are not left alone on the trip!!
We offer great service at great prices if you ever want to give it a try :) It just really hurts that some companies out there ruin it for the rest of us and I think it forces Directors to feel it's better to book it on their own. The right company can make it so much easier for you! If you are ever interested you can find my info on our website at AllAboutGroupTravel.com.
Do you have other reasons why you feel it's better to book a trip on your own rather then go through a tour and travel operator?
